At OSLC, we strive host an American Red Cross Blood Drive every chance we get (usually every 8 weeks). This is a very important ministry for us as we believe that when you donate blood, you are saving a life.
OSLC, every year, plays host to "To Our House", a program through New River Community Action. The mission of To Our House is to provide winter shelter for homeless adults in the New River Valley and connect them with resources that lead to employment, housing, and personal economic sustainability. At OSLC, we host two weeks a year and provide overnight volunteers, kitchen volunteers, and others. To learn more about this program, visit the To Our House website by clicking on the button below.
We have a very prominent food ministry! We collect both physical food items and monetary gifts. With the monetary gifts, our program administrator goes to the store and buys fresh food like meat, eggs, and other deals that he can find. We then split the food we collect between Montgomery County Emergency Assistance Program (MCEAP) and EnCircle Group Homes, a Lutheran ministry located in Roanoke. To learn more about this program and how you can help, contact the church office.
This pantry is located on OSLC's property at the back of our parking lot, along with our Little Free Library. We keep this pantry regularly stocked with all sorts of items such as canned goods, baby items, personal care items, snack foods, ect.
How Does it Work?
The idea behind this box is take what you need, and if you feel so moved, give what you can for the next person. We hope that this Little Free Pantry will be a blessing to our neighbors. Check out the Little Free Pantry and for more information, contact our Church Office!
